Injectables

We offer multiple treatment options that address wrinkles from a variety of approaches. During your consultation, we will develop a personalized treatment plan that may include one or more of the following neurotoxin options:

What Are Wrinkle Relaxers?

Wrinkle relaxers (commonly known as Botox or Dysport) are used for cosmetic procedures to temporarily reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. When injected in small, controlled doses by trained professionals, they block the nerve signals to the muscles, causing them to relax.

This smooths out wrinkles in the skin. We offer both Dysport and Botox at Pine & River Aesthetics, and all providers are highly trained to administer these wrinkle relaxers safely and effectively. Rest assured that all practitioners are more medically trained and the best at what they do.

What is BOTOX® Cosmetic?

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein that has the capability of preventing unwanted muscle action. In its pure form it is a toxin, but for cosmetic use it is a safe, highly-diluted injectable solution that relaxes muscles.

The way BOTOX® Cosmetic works is similar to the idea of putting a cut-off switch between an electrical cord and a lamp. Electrical energy must reach the lamp before the light comes on.

Muscles work the same way by receiving signals from the nerves. If you’re angry, your nerves signal your frown muscles to contract. When you schedule your first consultation at Pine & River Aesthetics, we offer a complimentary VISIA evaluation that provides you with a real-time analysis of your skin and its issues! What is Dysport®?

Dysport is a long-lasting prescription injection that works to smooth out the wrinkles and lines in your face. Primarily, it is used to target the frown lines between your eyebrows.

This is a common concern for adults of all ages, as you can frown without realizing it. Before you know it, there are deep lines between your eyes that make you look much older than you are.

What Can Wrinkle Relaxers Treat?

Although most people think of treating the forehead and/or crow’s feet only. Wrinkle relaxers such as Botox and Dysport can be used over many muscles in the face and even the neck to target signs of aging or balance subtle asymmetries.

What Are the Side Effects of Wrinkle Relaxers?

Redness and minimal swelling are expected and should resolve after a few hours. Bruising may also occur but is uncommon.

After having wrinkle relaxers, pain is minimal. You may experience swelling that goes away after a few hours.

What Are the Results After Having Wrinkle Relaxers?

Once you’ve had wrinkle relaxers, results usually become noticeable about 3-7 days after treatment. Most patients notice full effects after two weeks.

Wrinkle relaxers like Botox and Dysport help smooth lines and wrinkles on your face, helping you look younger and rejuvenated. Because the results are temporary, they typically last 3-4 months before maintenance treatment is needed.

What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are injectable gels that can rejuvenate the lips, cheekbones, jowls, nasolabial folds, and balance the face by providing volume that has been lost with aging or perhaps was never there. Dermal filler treatments are minimally invasive treatments that can last from six months to two years or more.

Dermal fillers carried at Pine & River Aesthetics are made of Hyaluronic acid, a substance normally found in the skin that helps keep it plump. The hyaluronic acid molecule is hydrophilic, or “water-loving,” a feature that allows it to bind to water to provide long-lasting results.

This restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct, smooth, and plump, returning the face to a youthful fullness. The team at Pine & River Aesthetics aims for very natural results.

Many patients fear that dermal fillers will result in them looking “overdone” or unnatural. Our team, consisting of a cosmetic nurse and an aesthetic nurse practitioner, are highly trained to provide the results you are looking for, but to retain the features that make you, YOU!

What is Restylane?

Restylane is made of Hyaluronic acid, a substance normally found in the skin that helps keep it plump. The hyaluronic acid molecule is hydrophilic, or “water-loving,” a feature that allows it to bind to water to provide long-lasting results.

Restylane restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct, smooth, and plump, returning the face to a youthful fullness.

Learn About Our RHA® Collection of Designer Fillers

Dynamic wrinkles and folds appear in areas of the face that move repetitively. Your face is dynamic, making millions of movements and micro-movements every day.

Movements like squinting, frowning, laughing, and talking create dynamic wrinkles and folds. These wrinkles and folds can be difficult to treat because dermal fillers may cause the area to appear stiff or unnatural when the face moves.

The RHA® Collection is designed to be resilient enough to adapt to your facial movement, which may provide a more natural look at rest and in motion.

What Can Dermal Fillers Treat?

Hollow tear troughs, hollow cheeks, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, thin or asymmetrical lips, hollow temples, glabellar folds, certain types of wrinkles and fine lines, volume loss, facial balancing, and lip enhancement.

Common areas for treatment include but are not limited to, cheeks, lips, jawline, undereye, temples, and chin. A thorough consultation will help your injector at Pine & River Aesthetics determine where to place filler to help you reach your goals and feel your most confident!

How Do Dermal Fillers Work?

Dermal fillers use a natural substance called hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a chemical found in every cell in your body. Since dermal fillers are injected into the deep layers of your facial tissue, they can smooth the appearance of moderate wrinkles and replace lost tissue volume.

Dermal fillers replicate the body’s own hyaluronic production to provide fullness in the areas in which they are injected.

What Can I Expect After Receiving Dermal Fillers?

Results from dermal fillers are immediate. How long the results last can depend on the type of filler, the area treated, your metabolism, and lifestyle factors. On average, they last 6-18 months, but recent studies have shown they even may last much longer in certain areas of the face.

The procedure typically takes around 30 minutes to an hour. Swelling, redness, and bruising are expected near the injection sites and typically resolve within one week.

Final results may not be apparent for up to 4 weeks following filler injection, as it takes time for the fillers to integrate with your natural tissues. Lumps and bumps are common during this timeframe and will resolve.

Sculptra/Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA)

Unlike traditional dermal fillers, Sculptra (Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA)) works gradually by stimulating the body’s natural collagen production over time. Collagen is a protein that helps maintain skin structure and elasticity, but its production decreases with age.

Sculptra is designed to stimulate collagen production in the skin, leading to gradual and natural-looking volume restoration.

What Does Sculptra Treat?

Sculptra is commonly used to treat facial volume loss, especially in the cheeks, temples, and jawline. It can improve hollow or sunken areas of the face, creating a more youthful appearance.

What Can I Expect After Sculptra?

Sculptra provides gradual results, with treatments only lasting 30-45 minutes. Patients typically require multiple sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart depending on their age.

The gradual improvement noted with Sculptra helps to ensure a natural-looking result. The results are long-lasting due to Sculptra’s collagen stimulating properties. Results can last up to 2 years or longer with yearly maintenance.

Is Sculptra Safe?

Sculptra has been approved by regulatory authorities for cosmetic use and has a well-established safety profile when administered by trained healthcare professionals, such as our staff at Pine & River Aesthetics.

Temporary side effects are similar to any other injectable treatment. Redness, swelling, bruising, and tenderness at the injection sites may occur. These usually subside within a few days.
